Work Coach: The Practical Psychologist

Work Coach

Work is an important aspect of many people's lives. Work can bring huge benefits (e.g., financial independence, self-worth, purpose) but also present significant challenges.

We are a group of highly experienced Coaching and Clinical Psychologists helping people to maximise their career performance and enjoyment.

We focus on building warm, effective relationships with clients. Each team member has received extensive training in psychological principles and techniques. We have a wealth of expertise with the challenges professionals face during their working lives.

Our background in both coaching and clinical work has equipped us to overcome a vast range of difficulties. Most workplace coaches cannot match us in training, skills, and experience.

Challenges

Challenges with work related activities come in many forms. Examples of the difficulties we address include:

  • Difficulties with confidence in the workplace

  • Problems achieving desired career progression

  • Coping with specific difficulties (e.g. public speaking, leading team meetings)

  • Barriers to effective leadership (e.g., problems delegating efficiently)

  • Workplace relationship issues (e.g., conflict with a colleague)

  • Procrastination

  • Perfectionism

  • Lack of clarity around goals or career direction

  • Transitioning between careers

  • Burnout

  • Working in a toxic work environment

  • Finding a job or preparing for work (e.g., after a career break or maternity leave)

  • Managing a mental health condition in the workplace (e.g., depression, anxiety)

  • Adapting work experience to a new role

  • Coping with a change in working pattern (e.g., part time to full time)

These are just some of the problems we have successfully addressed with clients. Get in touch to discuss your circumstances and needs.

Our Approach

We utilise evidence based psychological interventions to deliver results for our clients. As scientist practitioners, we use validated approaches to bring accountability and success to client work.

We apply techniques from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and applied neuroscience. We also specialise in other approaches and remain actively involved with our specific areas of clinical expertise.

What To Expect

All client work begins with an initial consultation (usually a meet and greet), followed by an assessment process. This evaluation usually takes one to three sessions, depending on the issues involved.

From there, we recommend an intervention plan and then commence work on this plan. The number and frequency of sessions for the intervention phase will vary from person to person. Typically, a limited number of sessions (approximately 3-8) are held frequently (usually weekly). Less frequent appointments may follow these sessions as we draw the work to a close. In some cases, just one or two sessions are required.
